COVID-19 related info with respect to the NEOBIOTA2020

As of today (May 8th, 2020), one week prior to extended abstract submission deadline, we are approaching 150 abstracts submitted. This provide us, the organisers of the NEOBIOTA2020 Conference, with solid foundation to continue with planning of the Conference. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, your interest and determination to continue with joint work on comprehension of alien species related processes and impacts remained intact. We are determined not to fail your expectations and efforts.

Nevertheless, we are aware that at time being when you should prepare to start you travel, towards Croatia and the Conference venue, some of you might not be able to come in person. We are working hard on enabling different way of participation in the Conference, on which further details will be circulated in due time.

As in the past, interest for oral presentation are higher than the available time slots. Consequently, evaluation of the submitted abstracts will remain to high standards set up during previous Conferences. Hence, in case you are interested for oral presentation do not miss the extended deadline set up on May 15th.

We are also aware that you might have concerns on your personal safety during your participation in such an event with mass participation. We will give our best to ensure safe environment during your stay. This will include taking into account social distance in Conference room, during Poster sessions and breaks, as well as availability of disinfection agents. Such measures has already been implemented in Olympia and Olympia Sky Hotels, the Venue of the Conference. We have no doubts that all together we will manage to successfully cope with this new challenges.

Some European countries already started to open their borders, and enable traveling of their citizens among them. With current epidemiological situation and trends, we are sure that summer, including mid-September when NEOBIOTA2020 will take place, will be much calmer and safer period than at the moment.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation, not only in Croatia but also in other countries as well, and work on contingency plans if needed.
